cell lines and primary cultures which might otherwise require
fetal bovine serum. Empirical testing is the most reliable method
for determining usefulness for a particular line.

Adult bovine serum is pooled into large batches during
processing. It is often useful as a biochemical reagent for in
vitro diagnostics and for some established cell lines. It is not
recommended for hybridomas, embryonic stem cells, or other

Donor horse serum can be used independently of other sera, or as
a supplement provided to enhance growth in combination with
bovine sera. It is an ideal supplement to enhance growth of tumor
cell lines, particularly of human origin, in conjunction with
fetal bovine serum. It can also be used as a supplement in
bacteriological media for growth enhancement of fastidious
organisms. Donor horse serum is obtained from a closed,
controlled standing herd that is under veterinary supervision and
routinely monitored for various equine diseases.
Donor goat (caprine) serum is specially intended for use as a
diluent/buffer in ELISA test kits. It is ideal as a blocking
agent for Western blots and is also useful as a tissue culture
media supplement.

Mouse serum is collected from sexually mature mice. This material
is certified to have been collected from healthy mice, under
controlled conditions. All mice were inspected and found to be
free of infectious disease.

Gemini monkey serum is aseptically collected from Macaques
(Rhesus and/or Cynomolgus) that have been tested for Herpes B
virus and found to be non-reactive. Herpes B virus is common and
usually harmless to Macaques, but can be fatal in humans. This
product should be handled with extreme care. Monkey serum can be
infectious despite safety testing.
