Blasticidin, from Streptomyces griseochromogenes, is an antibiotic commonly used in gene selection.

Blasticidin is active against both prokaryotic and eukaryotic. Resistance to blasticidin is conferred by the blasticidin resistance gene from bacillus cereus (bsr). Bsr codes for blasticidin deaminase.
